Culture In Interior Design

In honor of the month of love, we would like to talk about how much we love culture and its impact in our industry. What is culture? Culture, which derives from the Latin “colere”, which means "to nurture," refers to the patterns of human behavior and the symbolic frameworks that give those patterns meaning and relevance. "Systems of symbols and meanings that even its authors question, lack fixed boundaries, are continuously in motion, and interact and compete with one another" is how cultures can be understood.

Culture can impact almost everything we do, including interior design. When we think about cultural differences, interior design may not be the first thing that comes to mind. However, when trying to visualize a client’s ideal design, it can be beneficial to know the client’s cultural background. Decorating and designing with culture in mind is a visual way to express lifestyles. The Inclusion of culture in interior design is the perfect way to add originality in a meaningful way.

The inclusion of culture-specific items in interior design is meant to invite others to see and enjoy what is important to you. When you emphasize what is important to you in your interior design, it gives your residence a personal touch that visualizes your unique life. Utilizing culture-specific decorative pieces can also be an amazing way to start a conversation. The goal is not to persuade, but perhaps visitors may be inspired to decorate their own spaces using their culture as inspiration.
